  2. Welcome to the echo!

  5.                         ZyXEL Echo Rules
  6.  
  7. This echo was established in 1992 for the purpose of discussing
  8. ZyXEL modems.  This discussion includes the entire ZyXEL family.
  9. Discussion may also include compatibility concerns or problems
  10. with other Modems, but only with relation to ZyXEL models.
  11.  
  12. The following Echo Rules are expected to be followed. Failure to
  13. follow these rules may result in a request for your removal from
  14. the echo:

  16.  
  17. 1.  The Official Language of the ZyXEL echo is English.
  18.  
  19. 2.  Only those messages directly addressing technical issues
  20. related to the ZyXEL modem should be entered into the Echo.
  21.  
  22.     This specifically means that the following types
  23. of messages are not allowed:
  24.  
  25.     a.  Absolutely no advertising of any type.  No For-Sale
  26. advertising of used modems, no advertising for modem dealerships,
  27. etc.  No advertising of "Wanted" messages, as in want-to-buy a used
  28. modem - use the other appropriate echos for this.  If such messages
  29. are present in the echo - PLEASE IGNORE THEM ENTIRELY!  This is a
  30. technically-oriented echo and all messages must be technical in
  31. nature.
  32.  
  33.     b.  Absolutely no trivial or personal messages should be
  34. entered in ZyXEL.  Conversations between friends, having no
  35. technical content are a violation of Echo Rules.  Messages of a
  36. conversational matter, not relating to the technical subject,
  37. should be conducted via direct netmail and not via the ZyXEL Echo.
  38.  
  39.     c.  Absolutely no messages involving personal attacks,
  40. insults or other topics intending to provoke, rather than to
  41. discuss technical topics.
  42.  
  43.     d.  Absolutely no messages regarding any topic, if the
  44. messages produced are not within the generally-agreed-upon,
  45. technical standards for Echo Mail Specifications.  Specifically,
  46. Multiple Tear Lines, Multiple Origins, etc. may be considered
  47. sufficient cause to request linkages to the echo be removed.  In
  48. the case of Echo Topology problems (e.g. "Dupe Rings", etc.) the
  49. Moderators reserve the right to restrict access in order to
  50. correct echo topology problems.
  51.  
  52. 3.  No parts of a message entered should be considered in
  53. violation of one of the previous rules.  For instance, no origin
  54. lines or any message component should advertise for your modem
  55. dealership, or to sell your old modem, etc.
  56.  
  57. 4.  No parts of the message entered should be excessive, or
  58. particularly wasteful in verbage.  Like in addressing, or BBS
  59. naming, etc. This means specifically that your signature (e.g.
  60. "-Honlin-") should not include multiple lines announcing your
  61. BBS's capabilities, etc.  A simple name and a simple address (if
  62. required) and perhaps Telephone Number should suffice.
  63.  
  64. 5.  The use of your REAL NAME is ecpected at all times within the
  65. ZyXEL echo.  If for some reason you are on a BBS which forces or
  66. otherwise doesn't allow you to change your name from an Alias,
  67. then you MUST sign with your real name at the bottom of any
  68. messages you enter.  People feel more comfortable when dealing
  69. with you, when they feel they know who they are talking with.
  70. If your particular system of entry doesn't allow the use of your
  71. real name, and you don't wish to sign messages with your real
  72. name, then please don't participate in the ZyXel echo.
  73.  
  74. 6.  The gating or exporting of the zYxel echo to networks other
  75. than FidoNet is permitted under the following conditions:
  76.  
  77.     a.  All of the ZyXEL Echo Rules must be followed.
  78.  
  79.     b.  All decisions and comments issued by the Moderators must
  80. be followed, including requests to remove linkages, and/or
  81. specific user's access.
  82.  
  83.     c.  All pertinent FidoNet rules pertaining to Echo Management
  84. must be followed.
  85.  
  86.     d.  All messages returned back into the FidoNet EchoMail
  87. system, must indicate a address of entry and/or location to which
  88. private replies or comments regarding those messages can be
  89. addressed.
  90.  
  91.     e.  If problems develop, and the source of the offending
  92. messages cannot be localized, then the gateway to the other
  93. network will have its access cut off.
  94.  
  95. 7.  Any questions, concerns, or appeals of Echo Moderation
  96. should be addressed to the MODERATOR in private netmail.
  97.  
  98. 8.  The Moderator of ZyXEL is 'Honlin Lue;' FidoNet address
  99. 6:720/13, +886-2-322-5113.  Any comments or complaints about
  100. anything in the ZyXEL echo should be addressed to the moderator at
  101. the address given.  At no time are complaints or messages about
  102. non-technical matters to be entered into the ZyXEL echo.
  103.  
  104. 9.  Co-Moderators of ZyXEL are occasionally appointed to help in
  105. ZyXEL moderation.  If messages are issued from a Co-Moderator, they
  106. should be considered as if being issued from the MODERATOR in
  107. terms of Echo Management.  The Current list of Co-Moderators is
  108. listed below:
